lt is a pleasure to put forward Howard Cockburn for the Roll of Honour

Howard commenced calling in 1980 shortly after he started square dancing.
He and Brenda opened Crossroad Squares in July 1982.

Which has now been running for 23 years.
In this time. they had two children and ran over 16 beginner classes.
In 1990. Howard and Brenda opened Southern Cross Plus.
Which has operated for 15 years; and 1998 Southern Cross A was opened.

In 1982 Howard joined the Victorian Callers’ Association In his 23 years with the Association he has held every executive Position and again is serving on the Executive as Secretary, has been very active in the Skills and Development committee and has been a member of the Accreditation Board since it’s inception.
He has also been instrumental in the now annual VC A Variety night. Which raises funds for charity.
 He has been programme manager for 4 State Conventions and has trained other callers in all areas of calling and presentation.

In 1991 Howard joined the Australian Callers Federation He was President from 1995 – 1998,The editor of Callerlink from 1992 – 1997. Treasurer from 1998 – 200l, has been the State Coordinator and is currently a member of the Board.
He was largely reponsible for the· ACF Get Together which provides an informal setting for callers to socialise and for newer callers to receive feedback.

Howard attended his first National Convention in 1981 and has attended nearly every National Convention since. He served on the 1987 Committee as Publicity officer. 1991 as Venue Manager, 2000 as Programme manager and 2005 as Convenor.

Howard is a strong advocate of practical caller training and has given his time and energy to other callers to improve their calling skills.
He has entertained dancers all over Australia and NewZealand and consistently works for square dancing Victoria and Nationally.

Outside Square Dancing. Howard enjoys watching and playing cricket,  keeping statistics, finding interesting trivia, chatting with friends and most of all spending time with his family.

We believe him worthy of national recognition and nominate him to the Roll of Honour
