About

David Woodget became interested in Square Dancing in England in 1978 but came to Australia before completion of his learners’ class and graduated the Basic program in December 1979 in South Australia. Since that time David has been involved in almost every aspect of Square Dancing in South Australia from begirners through to A2. Also in the same period has served on committees including clubs, South Australian Square

Dance Society, National Society.in almost alt capacities. South Australian President from 1989 to 1998, Treasurer from 1983 to 1989 has been Treasurer for six State Conventions, Publicity Officer for one, Venue Manager for one, has been Secretary to the Australian National Convention Advisory Board, Treasurer to the National Square Dance Society of Australia. He has been involved in many Boards and Cormnittees too numerous to mention and I think he is an excellent candidate for the Roll of Honour.

David is still actively involved in the State Society, National Society and has just recently taken on the roll of patron for the S.A. Youth Group.
In conclusion David is a worthy recipient for the Roll of Honour and I believe he will serve with distinction for many years to come.

Yours in Dancing,

John Sendy,
President SA Square Dance Society.

In Support
I have known David Woodget for twenty years, when he joined Wild Frontier Square Dance Club after graduating from the Society’s learner’s class.

I have been associated with David on the club committee and on the S. A Square Dance Society Committee. For seven years we were closely associated – David as President and myself as Secretary.

I came to appreciate the enormous amount of time and effort that David has devoted to square dancing at all levels – club, state and society, and nationally as a member of three National Convention Committees.

He has devoted much time to researching and recording the history of square dancing in South Australia since the establishment of the S.A Society in 1973

As President he was always willing to work with other bodies associated with square dancing and to try to find mutually satisfactory solutions to any problems.

I commend David Woodget as a person worthy to be added to the Square Dance Roll of Honor.
